IF YOU CAN WALK AND LISTEN AT THE SAME TIME, YOU CAN SQUARE DANCE!

There's no fancy footwork and one partner does not lead the other. 

This is team dancing in groups of eight. Laughing together and fixing "the square" when something goes wrong is  part of the fun!

These days, square dancing has a group feel. Coming with a partner is not at all expected.

THE MUSIC IS ALL OLD-TIME FIDDLE TUNES

We use several genres. ANY music with a strong beat is square dance-able.

AND "TURN BY THE RIGHT"

IT'S SO MUCH MORE!

Today's square dancing has grown out of

the 25 simple Traditional Square Dance

calls (dance steps).

We teach about 50 to 75 calls in our program with opportunity to learn more if you like.

THE FOCUS IS ON HAVING FUN

WHILE LEARNING TO DANCE.

ALL THE WOMEN WEAR POOFY SKIRTS

A FEW PREFER THE TRADITIONAL COSTUMES, BUT

the choice is yours - casual, dressy, western or traditional outfits.

Casual clothing is the popular choice.

COMFORTABLE, INDOOR SHOES THAT PROTECT YOUR FEET AND THE FLOOR ARE IMPORTANT.

SQUARE DANCING IS FOR OLD PEOPLE

NOT TRUE. IT'S INTER-GENERATIONAL

From families with school-aged kids, to young teens and adults, right through to baby boomers and beyond.

[Children must come with their parent(s) and be old enough to take instruction, about Grade 4, maybe Grade 3.]

IT'S NOT MUCH OF A WORK-OUT

It has the same benefits as low impact aerobics.

Easily clock thousands of steps in an evening.  

Dancing uses both sides of the brain -

a proven workout for the mind.

Even better, square dancing turns exercise into something that's FUN to do with a group.
